Volunteering

Volunteers are a vital part of the SCCS community. Parents, families, alumni, local community members and the students themselves work together to make the school and the community a better place.

Santa Cruz Children's School is a caring community of students, teachers, and families who are passionate about learning.

Co-op Teachers

The tuition at Santa Cruz Children’s School is one of the most affordable in the county in large part because of our amazing community of parent volunteers. The parents of Santa Cruz Children’s School students place a high value on education and many are educators themselves.

As an SCCS parent you have the opportunity to design and implement unique and creative curriculum bringing your passions and expertise to the students. If you are interested in a volunteer co-op position, please let us know as soon as possible. We have limited positions available and cannot guarantee a space to all who express interest.

Live Scan fingerprint background checks are required and will be provided.  There are also many other opportunities to volunteer and stay involved without the weekly commitment of a co-op position throughout the school year.

Classroom Volunteers

There are many opportunities to volunteer and stay involved without the weekly commitment of a co-op position throughout the school year. An extra set of hands in the classroom is always welcome, whether on a regular basis or on especially big project days and events.

Workshops

We host several workshops during our after school program throughout the year. We have had a chess master, a capoeira instructor, an ikebana class, a makers workshop and much more. If you have a passion or expertise you would like to share with the students, a workshop is a great way to do that.

Chaperones

We take the students on several field trips throughout the year and the eldest two groups go on an overnight trip each spring. Without family members volunteering to drive and supervise on these trips, we would not be able to take them at all. Drivers will need to provide a copy of their drivers license and their insurance.
